Walker's Overlook Wedding - Ben and Angela - Maryland Wedding Photography

Had a rough day? Need a smile?

Meet Angela & Ben ! They got married in at Walker’s Overlook which is a beautiful house in the middle of a corn field… And yes, we took full advantage of the corn field!

You may remember them from the Hot Air Balloon session we did back in May. These two are goofy and fun and so are their friends and family. I am so happy that you let me be “Part of your World”.

How they met…

Ben and Angela met in college, at the Savannah College of Art & Design, through a mutual friend. As semesters passed by, Ben would stop by Angela’s dorm apartment to collaborate with Lakyn on school projects, consequently running into Angela. Soon Ben realized there was “Something There”. Ben and Angela got to know each other as their group of friends continued to get together and eventually it was time to pack up for the holiday break. Before they started up their cars to head “On the Open Road”, Ben shared a CD with Lakyn and Angela, with the side note that Lakyn shouldn’t read too much into the love songs, but Angela can read into them as much as she wants. Needless to say, Angela, with a “Smile & a Song “had this mix CD playing on repeat in her car. Shortly after Ben and Angela returned for the next semester, Ben asked Angela on a date. After year’s of “Going the Distance” and seeing “How Far they’ll go” to be together they settled down in Reston and are looking forward to “Married Life.”

On their wedding day we were a little bit worried because according to the forecast a few days before we were going to be hit by a hurricane. We decided to just “Let it go” , I mean really “Why should we worry” the weather forecasters are almost always wrong. Ben and Angela told me that Angela’s mother has the best luck with weather. I guess “Mother knows best”.

Angela got ready her closest friends and her mother were by her side. Angela wore a beautiful vintage style dress from TLC Bridal Boutique. She wore a beautiful vintage bird cage (LOVE) and the most amazing boots ever!! Angela also wore a beautiful pearl necklace that was passed down in Ben’s family for years.

While the girls got ready upstairs … Ben and the boys were downstairs fighting over who was going to be the Pinball Champion… Sad to say… Ben was not the Champion…

They invited over 120 people to”Be their Guest” while they said their wedding vows under a beautiful tree. The tree was one of the reasons why they picked the venue. It reminded them of the beautiful trees in Savannah where they met. In order to make it feel even more like Savannah they added lights that hung down like the Spanish moss.

As Angela’s dad walked her down the aisle to be with Ben he got emotional. After all this would be a “Whole new world for her.”

In the middle of the ceremony the “Rain, Rain, Rain, Came Down, Down Down” softly on their guests. Slowly umbrellas started to pop up adding even more color to their day. I don’t think that Angela and Ben even noticed as they were so wrapped up in each other’s love. They said their vows… and two people who are“Best of Friends” had “True Love’s Kiss.”

After the ceremony it was time for photos… Yay ! My favorite part ! It’s always a mystery “How far I’ll go” to get the best shot of the day. Those “Poor Unfortunate Souls” didn’t know what I had up my sleeves. But seriously, I loved their wedding party because they were up for all my crazy ideas. We laughed, we cried… we played in cornfields… and with pyrotechnics. I mean what is better then that.

And then it was time to party ! After a few really good speeches where we learned that Angela thought all apartments came with unlimited toilet paper… It was time to get down…

Hope you “Can feel the Love tonight” there wedding was really a “Tale as Old as Time.”

Favorite Moments from Angela & Ben

“My favorite part was probably the few moments here and there that Ben and I could sit back during the reception to see the whole place filled with family and friends on the dance floor and having fun - just feeling the love from everyone surrounding us and celebrating with us."

The whole day was just absolutely wonderful.”

“This is probably corny as hell, but seeing such a huge turnout of family and friends, in spite of a HURRICANE!  I also really loved how early predictions of hurricane Florence put it at a category 5 with a direct path to our venue.  The day of our wedding, it was a category 1 or 2, and the track of the hurricane basically went around our wedding.  You can’t ask for better luck than that!!!”

-Ben

At the end of the night Ben & Angela’s grand exit was through thousands of bubbles thanks to the help of a few bubble guns! It was seriously the best exit I’ve seen ! Love bubble guns!

“The Colors of the wind” must have been affected by the hurricane in the area. During sunset hour all a sudden the skies turned purple. The image directly below I enhanced. But you can see the others that are more natural at the bottom of this blog.

If you haven’t guessed it already… Since Angela has a love for Disney music I thought it would be fun to add Disney Songs titles into the wording on this blog! See how many song titles you can find!
