Howard County Conservancy Wedding - Caylie & Dan - Maryland Wedding Photography

If you’ve met me recently there is a high probability you heard me talk about Caylie & Dan’s Wedding. Caylie & Dan share a love of travel (in fact, they are heading to Tanzania for their honeymoon) and a love of craft beer. So much so that they so exquisitely put them both together. Overtop of their dance floor they had handmade paper airplanes flying while on each table there was a growler from a brewery they had visited with flowers and items from somewhere they had travelled to. Those details weren’t even the coolest part. Dan travelled up to Mass. a few weeks before the wedding to fill his car with different craft beers from around the area so that they could have beer tastings throughout the night. They even had the tastings match up to the cocktail hour, dinner drinks, and dancing. I’ve seen alot over the years but this was probably one of the coolest things I’ve seen at a wedding.

With a dress she bought from a consignment shop for $150… Yes, that amazing dress she wore was only $150!!! It was an Allure gown bought from Cherie Amour Bridal Resale. Caylie spent the morning with her girls getting ready at Turf Valley. Their hair and make-up was done by Thirty Hair .It was a bit cloudier outside then we had hoped for but at least there was no rain in the forecast. (Which has been rare this year!) You could feel her excitement that morning as she flitted about the room. Putting a special tattoo of Dan’s face in a special place to show him later that evening. Dan was up with his guys and their pup Zara getting ready. Dan was wearing a custom made at Michael Thomas in DC, which was a gift from Caylie to Dan. We did their first look at Turf Valley where they were getting ready so that we could all travel together Howard County Conservancy . Where their wedding would take place.

They had a beautiful ceremony that was performed extremely well by Caylie’s brother. They incorporated a glass pouring ceremony in which the glass that they combined will be melted down for them. After the ceremony Caylie and Dan also added another new element to my photographic repertoire. They had said they wanted to get a photo with each grouping of their guests at the wedding. So we came up with a receiving photo line. Where as the guests exited the ceremony to the cocktail hour they stopped for 5 seconds and got a photo with Caylie & Dan. We were done the whole line in 5 minutes… it was really quite genius and I will be using it at future weddings.

After playing in the Conservancy’s beautiful fields with Zara it was time for the reception. The Amanda Lynne Band rocked the dance floor (a friend of Caylie’s from High School) while Santoni’s served up some delicious food including an after night snack of Chips and Salsa… Caylie’s Favorite and Hoffman’s Ice Cream !

As they exited they were greeted again by those beautifully crafted paper airplanes.

When I asked Caylie and Dan what their favorite parts of the day was…

Caylie said “The whole damn thing!!! But specifically our vows, our first dance, dancing with friends and family, ice cream, and the moments alone with Dan. “

Dan said “Spending time with friends and family on the deck and dancing later in the night.”
