Cape Cod Engagement Session - Lauren and Alex - Maryland Wedding Photography
Welcome to the land of Great White Sharks… also known as Cape Cod ! A few weeks ago I met up with Lauren & Alex for the ultimate Adventure engagement session. It turns out that while we were shooting there were 6 great white sharks that were spotted right off the coast of the beach we were shooting on. Even though we tried to find them (for like 5 minutes) we didn’t get a chance to see the Great Whites but we did have one of the most Epic engagement sessions I ever photographed. So that’s a win!
Let’s meet Lauren & Alex… Lauren is my best friend Erika’s cousin. We were in a wedding party together 10 years ago back then she was just a young little thing. Not even old enough to drink! Fast forward a few years to later to when she met Alex while the two of them were working together at a local bank in Boston.
Lauren & Alex take off from the busy city every weekend to head to Alex’s families cape home. A perfect getaway only an hour from their home in Boston. We decided to do their engagement in Cape Cod because it is a place that they love and spend most their time together. They will be getting married in Rhode Island next summer!
Their engagement session started off with blue skies and the rockiest beach I have ever been on. As we moved on the weather started to change… Dramatic clouds started to roll in and we decided to rock on through the crazy storms that were coming. As it rained… and poured… we ran… we danced… and really just lived it up in the rain. It was a real Notebook type moment. We attempted to end the session with a lightening shot which I missed by a millisecond.
After drying off we woke up the next morning for a sunrise session that started on Chatham Beach. My new favorite spot on the Cape for engagement sessions. It was a beautiful and quite morning . We had the beach to ourselves with the exception of a yoga class. We ventured out toward the open ocean where as Lauren & Alex gazed out romantically into the water. Suddenly they quickly turned and looked behind where I was standing in the water. They started pointing with their faces concerned. I jumped about 20 feet in the air and flew out of the ankle deep water so quickly. All I could think of was that right next to me was a great white shark. They said that there was a dark shadow in the water that appeared behind me. Turns out it was a group of curious seals that were checking us out. My heart beat returned to normal and we continued down the shoreline where we found the coolest little beach shack.
After leaving Chatham we headed up to the top of the cape near Provincetown to the Cape Cod National Seashore. We played in the dunes and the sand. It was only 4 days after Labor day but the beach was so quiet !
As I brought them closer to the water… I let the ocean play temptation… Do you think you can read Lauren’s lips as to what she said when the wave hit them .
I am the queen of one more shot… We finished up with some lunch in Provincetown and I saw this beautiful old dead pier in the water. I told Alex ok… just one more set of shots over here. We walked into the water and found a swing on the old pier which added to some beautiful and sexy water shots…
Our last stop was the beach and bench where Alex’s families grew up. The bench has the name of Alex’s grandparents on it. Of course we had to end the two day shoot with a dip in the water. Lauren & Alex, I had so much fun with you guys ! Can’t wait till your Rhode Island Wedding next year!
