Megan & Matt joined me on a two week adventure through Uganda and Kenya. They decided instead of paying a fortune for a big wedding they wanted to have an adventure. They decided to combine their honeymoon and wedding in to one giant adventure. They were truly lucky when some of the members from a local Samburu tribe invited that to get married at their village. The team and locals came together and let Megan and Matt borrow traditional Samburu clothing and jewelry for the ceremony. Jaros our amazing guide and a close friend of mine even brought Megan his wife’s dress so she could wear it for the ceremony. The Elephant Bedroom camp manager Carmen even popped in to help Megan with her hair while Jaros, James, and a few other the other Camp Staff members dressed Matt outside the tent.

James (Bond) took Megan and Matt to his village and performed the duties of Best Man. In the Samburu culture the Best man is responsible for getting the couple through the marriage process. When they arrived they were greeted by the village elder who walked Megan and Matt through a traditional ceremony (There is a video so you can hear the beautiful singing and dancing from the Samburu tribe. They ended the ceremony in the Elders home where the elders wives helped redress Megan. Once they leave the home it is the tradition for the female never to look back so they along with their best man James marched back to the vehicle.
